If you have trouble hearing, don’t go straight to a hearing-aid dealer. First see your doctor; you may simply have a buildup of earwax. If it’s more than that, you may be referred to a specialist in hearing disorders or perhaps to a certified audiologist for a hearing test. If you need an aid, you may be fitted with one or sent to a reputable dealer.
Take the results of your hearing test with you to make sure you get a device that corrects your specific problem. If the dealer doesn’t offer a 30-day trial for the aid, or sells only one brand, shop elsewhere.
